Adolescent Stress & Anxiety: What Parents Need to Know

Stephanie Rago, M.Ed, NCC
Coordinator, Chemical Dependency Outreach Team, Unity Health

For Parents of Grades 6-12

Adolescents are faced with many challenges while attempting to grow and successfully navigate their world. Often times this journey through adolescence is not without pressure from others and at times teens may feel that some expectations are difficult to achieve. These experiences can result in stress and anxiety. This seminar will provide information for parents on signs and symptoms of adolescent stress and anxiety. The discussion will focus on the continuum of stress and anxiety, various anxiety related disorders, as well as how parents can help their child develop healthy coping mechanisms.

Stephanie Rago has been working in Behavioral Health for the past 16 years. She received her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the College at Brockport SUNY. She began her career working as a chemical dependency counselor then went on to pursue her Master’s Degree in Counselor Education from North Carolina State University.
